FIV Similar To HIV

FIV is a retrovirus similar to the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV also know as AIDS).  Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a viral infection that attacks the immune system of cats.  It is also know as Feline Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (Feline AIDS).  The immunodeficiency caused by the virus can promote a variety of symptoms including: Infections, impaired immune responses, anemia’s, gum and mouth infections, some types of cancer, and neurologic disease (much like in Humans having this similar disease).

  1. Thanks for sharing that video. Ever since I took the class: Aids, Science, and Society, I’ve always been interested in HIV/AIDS research and prevention. The International AIDS Conference is this July in DC. I’m curious as to what kind of research they will present at the conference.

    • That would be a great conference to attend! Would definitely be interesting. I think your blog is great…education is power. I love helping anyone that is willing to listen and or learn something. Thanks for finding my blog as well :-)

      • Here’s the link for the conference http://www.aids2012.org/

You can actually volunteer and help out with the conference. And I think you can even attend presentations when you don’t have a shift. It would be such an amazing experience to be at the conference and to be part of history.

Thanks for following my blog! I’d really appreciate it if you could share my blog with friends/family, especially teenagers.

By mixing public health and pop culture, we hope to educate teens and raise awareness. You can also check out our facebook page for more info. facebook.com/getPHYT
